🔑 What is a Token?

A token is a one-way cryptographic fingerprint of a data point. For example, license plate "ABC1234 / CA" is converted into an irreversible 64-character hash — it cannot be decoded back into the original value. Even we can't read it.

Tokens are further wrapped with HMAC-SHA256 encryption on the server — meaning even a hypothetical server breach would yield nothing but meaningless strings. No names, no plates, no personal information ever leaves your machine.

⏱️ Token Retention & Lifecycle

  • Active case tokens remain while your subscription is active
  • When you close a case, its tokens are retained for 12 months to support ongoing investigations by others
  • After 12 months, closed case tokens are automatically purged
  • If you cancel, all your tokens are removed from the network
  • Data is never sold, shared, or used for any purpose beyond matching
